About the Role
We are looking for a results-driven Senior Database Administrator to join our Managed Services team and drive enterprise-grade database reliability, security, and performance across mission-critical environments. This role is ideal for a seasoned Oracle and Microsoft SQL professional who thrives in a high-availability 24x7 operations setting and is passionate about delivering operational excellence at scale.
You will be responsible for end-to-end database administration, performance engineering, and L2/L3 support for enterprise systems. You will lead database optimization, hardening, migration, and automation initiatives, while partnering closely with internal teams and customers to uphold system integrity and ensure seamless business continuity.
Key Responsibilities
Database Operations & Performance Management
- Manage and administer Oracle and SQL Server databases in a 24x7 enterprise environment
- Conduct daily database health checks, performance tuning, optimization, and capacity planning
- Implement database security measures, hardening standards, and patches
- Automate database setup, backup, restore, and monitoring processes
Database Administration & Maintenance
- Create and configure database structures, files, logs, indexes, and storage allocations
- Oversee housekeeping activities, object validation, fragmentation checks, and re-indexing
- Verify database integrity during system upgrades, deployments, and maintenance windows
Incident & Problem Management
- Respond to database alerts, anomalies, and incidents with timely troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Work with service desk teams, customers, and third-party vendors to resolve database-related issues quickly
- Support DR execution and ensure successful rebuilds for production or DR systems
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate documentation including deployment guides, checklists, operations manuals, and DR procedures
- Prepare monthly reports on database uptime, performance, and growth trending
- Produce ad-hoc investigative reports for audits, capacity planning, and problem resolution
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT, IS, Computer Science, or related disciplines
- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on Oracle and Microsoft SQL database administration experience
- Strong proficiency with Oracle 12c/19c, Oracle RAC, SQL Server 2016–2022, and cloud environments (Azure/AWS)
- Skilled in database backup, recovery, security implementation, tuning, and high‑availability environments
- Solid understanding of UNIX and Windows OS
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced operational environment
- Experience supporting government sector environments is preferred
