Job summary

Grab is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to develop and enhance our knowledge graph systems. You’ll design ML and NLP solutions for entity tagging, taxonomy enrichment, and multilingual entity mapping, collaborating with product, engineering, and operations to deliver scalable knowledge assets.

You’ll report to the Senior Data Science Manager and work onsite at the Grab One North Singapore office, contributing to data-driven decisions and platform features with a cross-functional team.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required in CS/NLP/ML/Math or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of practical experience in applied NLP, ML or data science.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve knowledge graph related pipelines using NLP and ML techniques.
• Develop multilingual entity mapping using embeddings and semantic similarity.
• Improve taxonomy quality with automated synonym mining and entity deduplication.
• Design and run experiments to evaluate model accuracy and business impact.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to deploy ML outputs into platform features.

The Business & Transaction Platform team develops scalable ML and AI solutions to understand merchant content–spanning text, images, and structured data across Grab Food and Grab Mart in SEA. We build intelligent pipelines and data products that allow downstream applications including search, personalization, advertising, and merchant growth tools.

Get to Know the Role

We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to develop and improve our knowledge graph systems. You'll design and implement ML and NLP solutions for entity tagging, taxonomy enrichment, and multilingual entity mapping. You'll work with product, engineering, and operations teams to deliver high-quality structured knowledge at scale.

You'll report into the Senior Data Science Manager and work onsite in the Grab One North Singapore office.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• Build and improve entity recognition and attribute tagging pipelines using LLMs and NLP techniques.
• Develop multilingual entity mapping solutions using embedding models and semantic similarity approaches.
• Improve taxonomy quality through automated synonym mining, hierarchy generation, and entity deduplication.
• Design and run data-driven experiments to evaluate model accuracy and downstream business impact.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate ML outputs into platform features.

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• A Master's degree in Computer Science, NLP, Machine Learning, Mathematics, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in applied NLP, ML, or data science.
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Spark for large-scale data processing.
• Hands-on experience with NLP techniques (entity recognition, text classification, embeddings) and LLMs.
• Experience with knowledge graphs, entity resolution, or taxonomy systems is a plus.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to communicate findings clearly to cross-functional stakeholders.
