Job summary

SSMC is seeking a Senior Data Engineer (1 Year Contract) to join the IT & Cybersecurity, IT Applications EASEDA department in Singapore. You will design and maintain data tracks, optimize ingestion pipelines, and ensure data quality across the lifecycle.

The role requires hands-on experience with modern data tech and strong collaboration with business and IT teams. You will work on data platforms, establish governance standards, and contribute to scalable solutions that support manufacturing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or professional degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or Data Engineering.
• Certification in databases, data engineering, cloud or data platform tech is a plus.
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data management, database solutions or enterprise delivery; manufacturing exp preferred.
• Strong hands-on in data discovery, modelling, SQL, ETL/ELT, data integration, DB views, and source-to-target mapping.
• Experience with data replication, validation, troubleshooting and production data flows across systems.
• Understanding of manufacturing data and MES/SPC/quality domains.
• Experience with Oracle or PostgreSQL relational databases.
• Experience with MinIO or object storage, lakehouse or data warehouse platforms, Spark, Airflow, Kafka, Trino.
• BI/reporting exposure with Tableau or Power BI is advantageous.
• Proven ability to work with business users and IT teams to deliver production-ready solutions.
• Forward-looking, proactive, accountable, and strong analytical problem-solving.
• Clear communicator and collaborative team player.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain data tracks and reusable data products on the SSMC Data Platform using MinIO, StarRocks and other data technologies.
• Develop and optimize end-to-end data ingestion, integration, replication and analytics pipelines.
• Support and enhance data platform services including storage, access, metadata and lifecycle management.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to define data models and governance standards.
• Drive data discovery, source-to-target mapping and onboarding activities for projects.
• Ensure data quality, lineage, security and compliance across the data lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot complex data, platform and integration issues with root-cause analysis.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to strengthen data platform capabilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable data solutions.
• Provide operational support for enterprise data platforms and applications.
• Offer technical support to internal IT teams and business users.

What you will be working on

• Design, develop, and maintain data tracks and reusable data products on the SSMC Data Platform using MinIO, StarRocks, and other modern data technologies.
• Develop and optimize end-to-end data ingestion, integration, replication, and analytics pipelines.
• Support and enhance data platform services, including storage, data access, metadata, and data lifecycle management.
• Work with business stakeholders to understand requirements, define data models, and establish data governance standards.
• Drive data discovery, source-to-target mapping, and data onboarding activities for project implementation.
• Ensure data quality, lineage, security, and compliance across the data lifecycle.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex data, platform, and integration issues through root-cause analysis and continuous improvement.
• Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies and best practices to strengthen the organization's data platform capabilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and business-driven data solutions.
• Implement service requests, enhancements, and operational support for enterprise data platforms and internal applications.
• Provide technical support to internal IT teams and business users.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s Degree or Professional Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Data Engineering or a related discipline.
• Relevant certification in databases, data engineering, cloud or data platform technologies will be an advantage.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in data engineering, data management, database solutions or enterprise application delivery; manufacturing experience is preferred.
• Strong hands‑on capability in data discovery, data modelling, SQL, ETL/ELT, data integration, database views and source‑to‑target mapping.
• Practical experience with data replication, validation, troubleshooting and production data flows across different systems.
• Good understanding of manufacturing data and operational systems such as MES, SPC, equipment, quality, process or reporting domains.
• Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL or equivalent technologies.
• Experience in MinIO or other object storage, lakehouse or data warehouse platforms, Spark, Airflow, Kafka, Trino or equivalent technologies
• Exposure to BI and reporting platforms such as Tableau, Power BI or equivalent is advantageous.
• Proven ability to work with business users, project teams, vendors and internal IT stakeholders to deliver production‑ready solutions.
