Job summary

IBM Consulting is seeking an experienced data architecture leader to drive enterprise-scale data platforms across on-prem, cloud, and lakehouse environments. You will shape target-state architectures, govern multiple workstreams, and ensure security and compliance for Singapore public sector clients.

You will also contribute to pre-sales activities, craft compelling narratives, and present solution designs to senior IT and business leaders, accelerating client impact.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of experience in data architecture or related roles.
• Design enterprise-scale data platforms across on-prem and cloud environments.
• Hands-on with open-source data technologies and modern data architectures.
• Strong communication of complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience contributing to proposals, pre-sales, or client-facing solution presentations.

Your Role And Responsibilities

You will lead the architecture and design of enterprise-grade data platforms covering traditional data warehousing, modern lake/lakehouse patterns, and emerging AI/ML workloads. The role spans on-prem Big Data platforms, open-source ecosystems, and public cloud services, with a strong emphasis on security, governance, and compliance for Singapore public sector clients.

In addition, you will actively support business development activities, shaping technical narratives and solution designs during pursuits.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Technical Leadership

• Lead end-to-end data architecture design across on-prem, hybrid, and cloud environments.
• Define target-state architectures, reference architectures, and phased migration roadmaps.
• Provide architectural governance and technical leadership across multiple workstreams.

Data Platforms & Integration

• Architect scalable data lake, lakehouse, and warehouse solutions using a combination of:
  • Public cloud platforms (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Azure, GCP)
  • On-prem Big Data platforms and MPP engines
  • Open-source technologies (Spark, Kafka, Trino/Presto, Iceberg/Delta/Hudi, Airflow, etc.)
• Design secure and resilient data ingestion, integration, and access patterns.

Governance, Security & Compliance

• Design architectures supporting data catalog, metadata, lineage, and data quality.
• Ensure compliance with Singapore public sector security and regulatory requirements (e.g., PDPA, IM8).
• Work closely with security, infrastructure, and compliance stakeholders.

AI / ML Enablement (Advantageous)

• Architect data platforms that support advanced analytics and AI/ML workloads.
• Collaborate with data science teams on feature engineering, training pipelines, and model deployment considerations.
• Incorporate responsible AI, governance, and operational readiness into platform designs.

Proposals, Pre-Sales & Client Presentations

• Contribute to and lead technical sections of proposals, including:
  • Solution architecture
  • Technical approach and delivery methodology
  • Assumptions, risks, and dependencies
  • Develop clear, compelling architecture diagrams, solution narratives, and value propositions.
  • Present solutions confidently to client stakeholders, including senior IT and business leaders.
  • Support client workshops, solutioning sessions, and technical deep dives during pursuits.

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

• 10–15 years of relevant experience in data architecture, data engineering, or platform architecture roles.
• Proven experience designing enterprise-scale data platforms across on-prem and cloud environments.
• Strong experience with open-source data technologies and modern data architectures.
• Hands-on experience with public cloud data services (not limited to a single cloud provider).
• Solid understanding of data security, governance, and compliance, particularly in regulated or public sector contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Prior experience contributing to proposals, pre-sales, or client-facing solution presentations.

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

• Experience working with Singapore government agencies or statutory boards.
• Exposure to AI / ML platform architecture and analytics-driven use cases.
• Consulting background with experience in multi-vendor, multi-stakeholder environments.
• Familiarity with data governance platforms and enterprise metadata tooling.
