Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of a data governance framework for risk management as part of 1LoD (First Line of Defense) in alignment with enterprise-wide data governance policies (e.g., BCBS 239).
• Define key data items based on regulatory reporting importance and requirements.
• Develop and maintain data flow diagrams and a comprehensive data dictionary mapping upstream to downstream systems.
• Identify and document data lineage across source systems and reporting elements.
• Standardize definitions of data elements and contribute to data dictionary development.
• Conduct interviews and collaborate with stakeholders including reporting teams, business users, IT, and external vendors.
• Perform root cause analysis of data quality issues (e.g., missing values, granularity mismatches) and propose/implement corrective actions.
• Recommend controls for data validation, reconciliation, and exception handling to ensure data quality.
• Propose a roadmap to embed and operationalize data flow and data dictionary governance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related fields.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in data governance or data management, preferably within banking or financial services.
• Strong domain knowledge in risk management and regulatory reporting.
• Proven ability to perform data analysis and understand data lineage across systems.
• Excellent logical thinking and structured problem‑solving skills.
• Effective communication skills to engage with cross‑functional teams (users, IT, vendors).
• Good communication skill in both English and Japanese (Business‑level proficiency as mandatory) to liaise with Japanese stakeholders and clients.
• Familiarity with MAS regulatory reporting standards and associated data structures is a plus.
• Experience in financial data governance initiatives or enterprise data management projects is a plus.
• Working knowledge of data management tools like Collibra or Alteryx (not necessarily as a developer) is a plus.
