Job Description

The role of the Senior Claims Technical Specialist, Life and Health, APAC (Asia, Australia and New Zealand) requires a strong capability in handling CI and living benefit claims portfolio in Asia. The position can be based either in our Hong Kong or Singapore office.

The ideal candidate must be well versed with market claims practices and able to assist in developing a prudent risk-based claims’ philosophy to maintain profitability and manage all claims related responsibilities for clients, provide expert opinions, technical claims advice, targeted claims training, and support the delivery of claims solutions to clients in APAC, including enhancing our footprint in industry associations. In addition, the candidate should demonstrate strong customer-orientation, have experience in projects and process improvement initiatives, whilst maintaining a proactive and positive working relationship with clients.

Your responsibilities will be as follows :
  • Develop client specific claims strategy for the markets assigned to ensure profitability of business and support the identification, evaluation and execution of potential opportunities requested from business teams
  • Review and provide inputs to product design, policy provisions, treaties, claims guidelines, initiatives and related requests in a timely manner to help develop business
  • Provide support to quotes from APAC clients and internal product initiatives, advice to pricing teams, product and underwriting team for developing product designs, benefit structures and product pricing, cedant claims capability assessments and treaty reviews
  • Provide accurate and timely assessment of claims from cedants, while resolving and responding to claims, disputed and inquiries balancing client request but also Partner Re’s pricing basis, thus supporting the business unit productivity, quality, and service level standards
  • Proactively build deeper engagement with key clients, understand and ensure delivery of their product and claims servicing needs with best-in-class service standards. Organize regular client engagement activities such as meetings, webinars, workshops, client specific training initiatives, underwriting solutions to have a business impact
  • Lead and conduct claims audits and onsite reviews as required
  • Engagement in cross functional projects and process improvement initiatives (internal and external)
  • Maintain profitability and sustainability of the books of business and assist in developing the governance and compliance framework within the claims function in APAC
  • Engage in projects, support the delivery of claims solutions to clients such as disability claims scores and claims rules engines and explore new solutions that can be developed into unique propositions for Partner Re’s clients
  • Collaboration with claims team members in the global team and other markets within PartnerRe
  • Build and maintain proactive and positive working relationships with clients, brokers, and other external stakeholders
  • Enhance our footprint in industry associations across APAC
  • Any other projects or responsibilities assigned as part of the APAC team
Qualifications

You have an extensiveLife (re)insurance technical claims expertise and have experience in handling critical illness (in priority) mortality, , ABD, disability benefits including TPD. Furthermore, you have astrong understanding of products especially living benefit products across group and retail markets, including good understanding of underwritingand claims practices, especially across the Asian markets including Hong Kong and Singapore. You hold a graduation or above degree either in medical or para-medical field, life sciences, law or finance and bring the following skillset :

  • 10 to 15 years’ or more of Life (re)insurance experience in the management of claims across all benefit types (particularly CI) across Asian markets, especially Hong Kong and Singapore.
  • Having experience of the ANZ market will be an added advantage
  • Are resourceful in developing and delivering claims training, providing technical input to product definitions conducting claims and portfolio reviews, and excited with taking unique claims solutions to clients
  • Understand the market regulatory framework including the application of the Life Insurance Act, Insurance Contracts Act, and the Life Insurance Code of Practice
  • Proficiency in written and oral English is a must
  • Chinese language capabilities will be an added advantage
  • Are a team player, with well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills and have a strong client centricity mindset
  • Have good self-management, planning, organizing and time management skills
  • Have excellent influencing, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Have superior oral and written communication skills with an ability to relate well with others and explain complex problems in a simple manner
  • Are curious, an active listener, bring energy and have a real desire to contribute to a high-performing team to help the business unit achieve great success together
  • Are resourceful in developing and delivering claims training, providing technical input to product definitions conducting claims and portfolio reviews, and excited with taking unique claims solutions to clients
  • Reinsurance experience and experience across various markets in Asia will be advantageous
  • Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) or Advanced Certificate in Life Insurance Claims Operation will be advantageous
