Job description
Responsibilities
  • Formulate specific objectives and targets for key processes associated with the project that is consistent with the company’s strategic goals.
  • Meet the ‘zero defects’ objective by constructing the project in compliance with the specification and drawings to avoid or at least minimise rework both during construction and the defects liability periods.
  • Review construction progress on site against the construction programme and identify problems and risks which may affect the timely completion of the project.
  • Review monthly costs, identifying problem areas where cost overruns have occurred and implement controls.
  • Manage the project to ensure that it is completed, achieving the project targets, within the agreed programme and time constraints, and to the specified quality, while meeting the project objectives.
  • Make sure that the business results of the project in relation to time, cost, quality, safety, and environmental performance are satisfactory.
  • Approve submissions to the client representative and relevant statutory bodies.
  • Address issues raised by project stakeholders.
  • Liaise with the client and design consultants (including meeting attendance) to ensure the works satisfy their requirements.
  • Review and recommend the appointment of major suppliers and subcontractors, and review, sign and allocate follow‑up action for outgoing and incoming correspondence to and from the engineer's representative, design consultants, subcontractors and major suppliers.
Job Requirements
  • Minimum 15 years of engineering experience with a degree in Civil Engineering recognised by the PE Board or a recognised degree in the relevant field, subject to the acceptance of the engineer.
  • At least 5 years of experience in managing land civil engineering works, especially involvement in infrastructure projects.
  • Proven track record in the construction of: Soil improvement work by the Cement Deep Mixing method more than 500,000 m³; Soil improvement work by the Cement Pipe Mixing method more than 1,000,000 m³; Dredging work depth deeper than –14 m and volume more than 1,000,000 m³; Land Reclamation work more than 500,000 m³; New container berth more than 400 m; Road and Drainage work.
  • Completed one full cycle of a project as a managerial staff (e.g. Chief Engineer).
