Job summary

NTU's Energy Research Institute @ NTU (ERI@N) seeks a Senior Research Fellow to develop a CFD engine and building energy models as part of a cloud AI-based valuation framework. You will lead CFD development, contribute to OpenFOAM workflows, and collaborate with partners across academia and industry.

The role requires a PhD and 3+ years in CFD, with strong coding skills in Python/C++ and experience with energy modelling tools.

Qualifications

• PhD in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or Applied Physics
• At least 3 years of CFD development experience
• Familiarity with CFD solvers (Fluent, 6Sigma, STAR-CCM+, etc.)
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Proficiency in OpenFOAM and/or C++ in CFD environments
• Soft skills in information visualization and interaction design
• Experience with energy modelling or coding platforms including SketchUp, EnergyPlus, OpenStudio, TRNSYS, and Python
• Ability to work at a fast pace and adapt to new information
• F1 experience would be advantageous
• Experience with Python, C++, and Unix shell scripting would be advantageous

Responsibilities

• Develop new CFD solutions with academic and industry partners
• Identify new research and technology development priorities
• Provide CFD technical leadership to new programs
• Collaborate to develop OpenFOAM methods, processes and workflows
• Develop and implement mesh, solver and post-processing workflows
• Support and optimise CFD tools, monitor issues
• Ensure CFD simulations align with commercial tool capabilities
• Research energy usage across scenarios and write reports
• Map total energy usage and propose actionable options
• Respond to team questions and publish papers/documents
