A leading global reinsurer in Singapore is seeking a skilled Casualty Treaty Underwriter with significant experience in the India market. This role involves underwriting excellence across multiple lines, requiring strong strategic thinking, technical expertise, and excellent interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6 years in (re)insurance, with proven knowledge in motor and liability sectors, and will be expected to contribute effectively to regional and global teams.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years' experience in (re)insurance, with at least 2 years covering the Indian market.
  • Strong knowledge in motor, liability, workers compensation, and personal accident.
  • Effective use of data and tools; coding capability is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Handle all aspects of the treaty value chain: underwriting, pricing, and post-binding activities.
  • Lead or support pricing and underwriting projects with cross-regional teams.
  • Provide renewal support to other markets in Asia as needed.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Casualty Treaty Underwriter to join our SID team, with primary responsibility for the India market. This role is pivotal in driving underwriting excellence across motor, liability, and Non-Life Personal Accident lines. You will also support secondary territories within the team as needed and contribute to Asia and Global Casualty plans and initiatives.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical acumen, strategic thinking, and collaborative spirit. This role requires frequent travel to Mumbai, including 6–8 weeks on-site during peak season (Q1).

This role may be placed at VP level for exceptional candidates.

Underwriting Responsibilities
  • Handle all aspects of the treaty value chain: underwriting, pricing, wording, referral, internal processes, and post-binding activities.
  • Lead or support deep‑dive pricing and underwriting projects, often involving cross‑regional teams and shared expertise.
  • Conduct underwriting related tasks including renewal updates, ORM compliance, client audits, and planning etc.
  • Provide renewal support to other markets in Asia on need basis.
Client Engagement & Market Insight
  • Collaborate with market unit underwritersin fulfilling client needs, provide value‑added services and product insights that can create a competitive edge.
  • Maintain and share industry and product know‑how, helping the team stay ahead of market trends and emerging developments.
Strategic & Technical Contributions
  • Participating in strategic discussions and sharing market insights.
  • Contribute to technical training and internal/external knowledge exchange.
  • Provide coaching to market unit underwriters
About You
Professional Experience
  • Minimum 6 years' experience in (re)insurance. With at least 2 years covering Indian market, and strong knowledge in motor, liability, works compensation and personal accident
  • Professional qualification in insurance e.g. CPCU, FCAS, ANZIF CII etc.
  • Bachelor's degree or post graduate level qualification in a relevant field desirable
  • Successful cases from idea creation to concrete plan and execution lead to meaningful business impact
  • Effective use of data and tools is a must and coding capability as a plus
