Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Senior Biotechnologist to operate within Central Services in a cGMP biologics production facility. The role covers upstream and downstream processes, buffer/media prep, autoclave, and glasswash activities with cross-functional collaboration.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor degree with 5+ years in biologics production and 3+ years in GMP purification, plus experience with DeltaV, SAP and MES. Rotating shifts are required and teamwork is emphasized.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree with at least 5 years in biologics production facility or equivalent.
• Minimally 3+ years prior experience in large scale GMP purification manufacturing.
• Experience working in clean room environments.
• Willingness to rotate shifts and adapt to production schedules.
• Ability to coach and train junior biotechnologists.

Responsibilities

• Executes manufacturing operations including equipment cleaning, setup, and stream-specific tasks.
• Operates computerized systems for process control and data entry (DeltaV, SAP, MES).
• Adheres to safety requirements and participates in SHE investigations.
• Assists lead in planning production schedule and leading area activities.
• Performs advanced process and equipment troubleshooting.
• Coaches and trains junior biotechnologists in area of expertise.

Purpose Statement

• Performs functions associated with cGMP manufacturing operations within thebiologicsproduction facility.
• Completes batch documentation accurately and thoroughly, while adhering to the required quality and safety standards, and in a productive, cost-effective manner.
• Serves as a highly skilled subject matter expert within the manufacturing area, contributing to the development of concepts, techniques, and process improvements.
• Supportsanddrivestroubleshooting efforts duringcourse of shiftwork to ensure adherence to schedule and production plan.

Major Responsibilities:

Executes manufacturing operations to perform operations including but not limited to equipment cleaning and set up as well as stream specific operations like:

Upstream: Vial Thaw, Inoculation, Cell Culture and Recovery

Downstream: Chromatography, Filtration, Ultrafiltration, Final Filling

Central Service: Buffer/ Media Preparation, Autoclave,Glasswashand cleaning processes, Sampling of raw materials.

• Execute on computerized systems (such as Delta V, SAP and MES) for process control and data entry
• Adhere to safety requirements in all tasks, report incidents and near misses promptly, and assist with Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) incident investigations.
• Participates in resolution of anomalous processing events
• Assists lead in planning production schedule and leading area activities
• Performs advance process and equipment troubleshooting
• Coach and train junior biotechnologists in area of expertise
• Sets a positive team environment and inculcates a nurturing AbbVie culture

• Bachelor Degree education with at least 5years of experience working in Biologics Production facility or equivalent
• Minimally3+ years prior experience in large scale GMP purification manufacturing
• Completes complex tasks in creative and effective ways
• Consistently works on complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues
• Comfortable working in clean room environments
• Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments with high learning agility
• Rotating shift work is required
