Job summary

A leading technology firm in Singapore is seeking a Process Engineer to lead backend processes, manage production issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Candidates should have a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and at least 5 years of experience in semiconductor backend manufacturing. Strong communication skills and proficiency with laser processing and plasma cleaning are essential. This role involves both hands-on work and managing vendor relationships.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing OSAT vendors and handling ECNs and 8D reports.
  • Proficient in FMEA, Control Plan, OCAP, SPC, MSA and 6 Sigma (Green Belt preferred).

Job description
Process Engineering (Primary responsibility)

Lead and sustain backend processes including Laser Marking, Laser Ablation (UV) and Plasma Cleaning.

Perform hands‑on troubleshooting of laser and plasma etching equipment.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, improve yield, and lower operational costs.

Drive permanent solutions to resolve chronic process and quality issues.

Lead investigation for process quality escalation.

Lead equipment qualification, process buyoff, and performance validation for new machines and technologies.

Support product transfer from other plants and new product introduction (NPI) activities.

Responsible for preparing the line for internal & external audits and follow‑up actions.

OSAT Management (Secondary responsibility)

Manage daily production issues at OSAT sites and coordinate timely resolution.

Review and approve document update (Control Plan & FMEA) from OSAT partners.

Review and drive 8D problem‑solving reports and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively.

Collaborate with OSAT vendors to align quality, delivery, and process standards.

Lead cross‑functional projects involving technology transfer, cost savings, and process enhancement.

Coordinate with Technology Development and Process Integration teams for new product releases.

Interface with global teams for equipment upgrades and process standardization.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in semiconductor backend manufacturing or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of laser processing (especially laser marking), plasma cleaning, and semiconductor packaging.
  • Experience managing OSAT vendors and handling ECNs and 8D reports.
  • Proficient in FMEA, Control Plan, OCAP, SPC, MSA and 6 Sigma (Green Belt preferred).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to work cross‑functionally and globally.
Preferred Skills
  • Hands‑on experience with laser equipment (Keyence, ESI, or other laser equipment).
  • Familiarity with Minitab, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in OSAT Management projects is an advantage.

  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
