About the job Senior Backend Engineer (Python)

About the Role
Were a fast-growing, VC-backed cybersecurity startup based in Singapore, building cutting-edge technology to help some of the worlds most targeted organisations understand and reduce their real-time security exposure.

Were looking for a (Senior) Backend Engineer to join our high-impact engineering team. You'll play a critical role in designing and scaling the core backend infrastructure that powers our offensive security platform technology used to identify and analyze vulnerabilities across millions of assets.

This is an opportunity to work on complex engineering challenges, shape key backend systems, and build products that directly support global enterprise security.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and data pipelines that fuel our core security platform
• Architect scalable micro-services and APIs to process and analyse large volumes of asset and vulnerability data
• Collaborate with frontend developers and product teams to deliver reliable, performant features end-to-end
• Continuously improve infrastructure, deployment, and monitoring as we scale
• Work in a dynamic startup environment where speed, ownership, and quality matter

What Were Looking For

Were looking for someone with 5+ years of experience who has:

• Deep experience designing and building robust backend systems using microservices architecture
• Proficiency with both relational (e.g., Postgres) and non-relational (e.g., MongoDB) databases
• Familiarity with event-driven systems, asynchronous data processing, and tools like Kafka or Airflow
• A strong foundation in writing clean, testable code with good engineering practices
• A proactive mindset, and the ability to take ownership and drive projects forward
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and collaborating across functions

Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)

• Experience with large-scale data processing or real-time data streaming
• Background in security analytics, threat detection, or vulnerability management
• Familiarity with building ETL pipelines, schema versioning, or other data engineering tasks
• Understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-based infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)

Prior experience working in Agile or DevOps cultures
