Roles & Responsibilities
The Senior Automation Engineer will be based in one of clients who is among the top tier pharmaceutical giants. The engineer will provide a wide range of technical support in terms of automation, validation, and project management. The scope of work will include but not limited to resolution of automation issues, implementation of Automation changes, preparation of SDLC and qualification documents, upgradation automation systems.
- Provide technical guidance in the system design, project management, commissioning, and start-up of automation systems, for upgrades, renovations and expansions of client facilities and processes.
- Provide expertise technical knowledge/advice on the operation of computerized/automation systems, including automation maintenance, bug fix, troubleshooting, change control, and continuous improvements
- Play as the Project Engineer to manage and execute assigned projects
- Coordinate meetings with multiple stakeholders both internal and external, to drive project progress, facilitate decisions, capture meeting minutes/action lists, provide updates.
- Prepare/perform/review electrical drawings, such as Panel Drawings, wiring diagrams, single line drawings.
- Perform programming/ configuration on PLCs, DCS or SCADA/Historians.
- Review programming of equipment vendors and other automation firms.
- Perform automation/ electrical troubleshooting on electrical panels and control systems.
- Familiarity with ISA 88/ 95 Standards for automation.
- Facilitate work efforts with other disciplines such as Process Engineering, Mechanical, Validation, and client’s internal stakeholders.
- Prepare/Review User Requirements Specifications (URS), Functional Design Specifications (FDS), Requirements Specifications (RS), Software Design Specifications (SDS), Detailed Design Specifications (DDS), System Architecture, Access Matrix, Valve & Alarm Matrix.
- Prepare/Review Project Master Plan, Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), Quality Assurance Summary Report (QASR)
- Review and approve vendor commissioning documents (FAT, SAT)
- Prepares and execute AIQ and AOQ, Test Protocols, ensuring documentation meets required regulatory standards
- Develops and update Automation SOPs, Job Aids and procedures
- Develops and updates Automation training packages, and conducts Automation training
- Provide hyper care support post system release for deviation and operation investigation requiring code and system-level troubleshooting
- Work may require occasional support over shutdowns or extended hours, specifically during installation and commissioning /qualification phases
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant working experience, preferably in pharmaceutical industry
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical/Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronic/Control & Instrumentation and other engineering
- Possess good understanding of Electrical and P&ID drawings
- Good knowledge and practical experience in design and development of DCS (DeltaV), SCADA (WinCC, FactoryTalk View, Wonderware) & PLC programs
- Proficient with Siemens S7 PLC, Rockwell CompactLogix and ControlLogix PLCs
- Possess leadership skills, and be able to take initiative to lead projects, involving multiple stakeholders, departments, and varying complexity.
