Role Summary

Senior Analyst – Shipping Accounting, Reporting & Control (ARC)

The successful candidate will be part of the Shipping & BPMS Finance Team and will report to the Finance Manager, Operated Fleet and Singapore Management Information. This role is responsible for providing financial partnering to the business, namely BPMS, BP Shipping Singapore and UK, and Finance, Business & Technology (FBT) for Crewing and Shipping across our global fleet, to optimise crewing payroll and financial operations and shipping regional reporting, tax and financial positions.

Key Accountabilities
  • Partner with the business to understand the changing needs of the Shipping business and build and propose new processes/systems to cater to the BPMS operating model for cost collection and financial analyses.
  • Build, coordinate and communicate operational reports, monthly performance reports aligned to management needs employing up-to-date technology and tools.
  • Develop accurate analytical, reporting and supporting accounting and payroll structure required for new processes/system and plan and implement for the adoption by Finance Team/FBT.
  • Undertake planning of the internal control processes for BPMS, including developing, refining and overseeing the Finance Team's systems and processes for Business Continuity Plan (BCP), Desk Top Procedures (DTPs), job swap and other control and business continuity arrangements.
  • Evolve the payroll function in its systems and processes to provide the operational and financial solution to the Crewing function in line with business changes.
  • Work with the BPMS functional teams – Crewing Leads, Planning and Logistics and HR teams to plan the long-term payroll infrastructure required to support the Shipping business.
  • Develop control processes and perform timely payroll review to ensure accurate payment and reporting of all payroll information and related employee benefits, in compliance with accounting standards, tax laws, regulations and BP policy.
  • Plan and develop payroll workflow; approve all master payroll calendars and monthly processing schedule.
  • Develop financial analyses and reports as required by the business, including for fleet build, salary increment and foreign exchange.
  • Handle the Approved International Shipping (AIS) Enterprise Tax Incentive for Shipping Finance Singapore, coordinate closely with Chartering and other business teams, FBT, Tax teams and Maritime Port Authority of Singapore.
  • Coordinate BPMS and other audit requirements on Shipping finance information as required by Shipping Singapore e.g. supplier finance audit.
  • Build and maintain key relationships with outsourced partners for financial and accounting information purposes and provide cost analysis and challenges as vital.
  • Provide support and cover for other finance team roles as vital and handle additional ad-hoc reports and projects on demand.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Meaningful operational finance experience with a consistent track record of delivering commercial value.
  • Previous experience in financial accounting or financial planning is necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence in a collaborative manner and able to build and maintain successful relationships.
  • Strong communication and knowledge sharing skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and commercial awareness.
  • Ability to successfully handle conflict and multiple priorities.
  • Experience in Marine/Shipping industry is preferred.
  • Experience in SAP accounting system is preferred.
  • Experience in Shipping Payroll is desirable but not essential.
  • SmartPal Shipmanagement System experience is desirable but not essential.
  • A university degree or equivalent experience or diploma holder preferred, but specific educational profile is less important than behaviours and a strong background of high performance and contribution.
