Singapore General Hospital's Artificial Intelligence Development Office (AIDO) seeks a talented professional to design, develop and evaluate advanced deep learning models addressing healthcare challenges.
You will build customised architectures for object detection and image segmentation, including vision-language tasks, and translate clinical needs into AI solutions in collaboration with researchers and clinicians.
You will be part of the Artificial Intelligence Development Office (AIDO). You will be responsible for thedesign, development and evaluation of advanced deep learning modelsto address challenging problems in healthcare. You will work with healthcare professionals and researchers to translate clinical and operational needs into AI solutions, with a focus oncomputer vision, vision-language models and foundation models.
You will design and buildcustomised deep learning models and architectures, including models for object detection and image segmentation, rather than relying solely on existing implementations. You will design rigorous experiments, evaluate and analyse model performance, and explore new methodologies based on advances in AI research. You will also contribute to research studies, technical reports and scientific publications, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate promising methods into practical healthcare applications.
Most of all, you enjoy understanding how AI models work, experimenting with new ideas and building models beyond existing implementations, and want to apply these capabilities to improve healthcare and patient outcomes.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Engineering or related quantitative disciplines. Master's Degree or PhD would be an advantage.
2-5 years (Senior Analyst) or ≥4 years (Associate Principal Analyst) of relevant experience in deep learning, computer vision or related areas. Relevant research experience may be considered.
Strong understanding of themathematical foundations and architectures of deep learning, including modern Transformer-based models.
Good understanding ofvision and language-based foundation models, including their architectures, training approaches and adaptation to downstream tasks.
Demonstrated experience indesigning, modifying and implementing customised deep learning models, beyond simply applying or fine-tuning existing models and codebases.
Hands-on experience developing and trainingobject detection and image segmentation models.
Strong proficiency inPython and PyTorch, with experience in GPU-based model training.
Experience designing rigorous machine learning experiments, including baselines, evaluation metrics, ablation studies and systematic performance analysis.
Ability to read and critically evaluate AI research literature and translate new ideas into working implementations.
Publications or substantive research contributions in deep learning, computer vision, vision-language modelling or related fields would be an advantage, particularly for senior appointments.
Healthcare or medical imaging experience would be an advantage but is not required. Curiosity and willingness to learn about medicine and healthcare practices are essential.
Strong problem-solving, written and oral communication skills, and ability to work independently as well as in a multidisciplinary team.
