A leading reinsurance brokerage in Singapore is seeking an experienced professional for their analytics team. This role involves leading technical conversations, performing complex analyses, and presenting solutions to clients. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in the actuator space, with the capability to manage client relationships effectively, and is encouraged to be multilingual. Qualifications

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in Non-Life Insurance/Reinsurance Actuarial space.
  • Experience in Reinsurance Treaty and/or CAT Modelling.
  • Ability to work independently and resourcefully.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Multilingual in English and at least one other Asian language.

Job description
Objective

To be a member of UIB Asia’s analytics team extending services to existing and new clients in Korea and other parts of the world.

To play a role in building UIB Asia as the HUB of Analytics Excellence for UIB Group, based in the Singapore office.

Overall Role

The role holder will play an integral part in supporting brokers and clients in developing solutions and giving sound advice to clients, with greater focus on the Korea market.

Role holder is expected to become familiar with our tools and approach, to develop and propose optimal reinsurance solutions to clients and evaluate the impact on profit, capital, volatility and other priorities. Role holder will also implement models that provide pricing advice to brokers based on the various proposed structures.

The role requires a clear understanding of the various reinsurance fundamentals and structures to manage risk and their implementation within the modelling framework.

The ideal candidate is also one who seeks progression to a more client-facing role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead technical conversations with brokers and clients, and assist promptly to queries
  • Perform technical costing of the reinsurance solutions using experience and exposure pricing techniques, and to working with brokers to determine the feasibility of proposed structures and target pricings
  • Perform Dynamic Financial Analysis (DFA) as a part of the reinsurance optimisation exercise
  • Present Actuarial and CAT modelling result findings to clients and propose solutions to meet their needs and constraints
  • Work with CAT Modelling Analysts in testing and determining the validity of CAT Modelling results
  • Conduct technical and skills development of team members and clients
  • Lead internal research, market benchmarking and other value-proposition initiatives
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Between 5 to 10 years of experience in Non-Life Insurance / Reinsurance Actuarial space
  • Experience in Reinsurance Treaty and/or CAT Modelling
  • Ability to work independently and resourcefully, with a client-centred focus
  • Strong ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a timely manner
  • Team player with excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Prior working experience in DFA software (e.g. ReMetrica, MetaRisk, URS Risk Explorer), CAT Modelling tools, VBA and SQL is a plus
  • Degree in Actuarial Studies or related fields such as mathematics, finance or statistical studies
  • Good progress in actuarial exam qualifications with a recognised Actuarial institute
  • Multilingual in English and at least one other Asian language.
