Horizon Global Services PTE. LTD. in Singapore is seeking a reliable Science Laboratory Support Officer to assist the school's laboratory technician in maintaining clean, safe, and organised laboratories and preparation rooms.

You will help with cleaning, glassware washing, and preparing materials for practical lessons. Reporting to the laboratory technician, you will replicate demonstrations, handle chemicals and equipment under supervision, and ensure safety procedures are followed.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of working experience supporting school operations.
• Previous experience as a cleaner supporting science laboratory operations is preferred.
• Experience in laboratory cleaning, glassware washing, or laboratory preparation is an advantage.
• Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision of a laboratory technician.
• Responsible, organised, and attentive to detail.
• Willingness to follow workplace and laboratory safety procedures.

Responsabilités

• Laboratory Cleaning & Housekeeping: Sweep and mop floors, empty trash bins, clean benches and sinks, refill soap and disinfectants, manage broken-glassware containers.
• Laboratory Equipment Cleaning: Wash glassware and equipment, store cleaned items, maintain lab cleanliness and organisation.
• Laboratory Preparation & Support: Replicate setups, weigh chemicals, prepare equipment for lessons, distribute and replenish items, follow safety procedures.
• General Laboratory Assistance: Support daily operations, maintain supplies, ensure readiness for lessons, perform other duties as assigned by the school.

• Employment Type: Contract

• Contract Period: 1 January 2027 – 31 December 2027

• Contract Extension: Option to extend for one additional year, from 1 January 2028 to 31 December 2028

• Working Days: Monday to Friday

• Working Hours: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

• Lunch Break: 30 minutes daily

Job Objective

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Science Laboratory Support Officer to assist the school's laboratory technician in maintaining clean, safe, and organised science laboratories and preparation rooms. The successful candidate will support laboratory cleaning, glassware washing, preparation of experimental materials, and distribution of equipment and chemicals for practical lessons.

Key Responsibilities

1. Laboratory Cleaning & Housekeeping

• Sweep and mop the floors of science laboratories and preparation rooms after use.

• Empty trash bins located near sinks and on laboratory floors at the end of each working day.

• Clean laboratory benches and sinks at the end of the day when practical lessons have been conducted.

• Refill hand soap, disinfectants, and paper towels as required.

• Empty designated broken-glassware containers when full, following the school's safety procedures.

2. Laboratory Equipment Cleaning

• Wash laboratory glassware, including beakers, measuring cylinders, plastic bottles, and vials.

• Clean laboratory equipment and apparatus under the guidance of the laboratory technician.

• Ensure cleaned equipment and apparatus are properly handled and stored.

• Maintain cleanliness and organisation in laboratories and preparation rooms.

3. Laboratory Preparation & Support

• Replicate experimental setups based on demonstrations and instructions provided by the laboratory technician.

• Assist in weighing chemicals into bottles and filling bottles with prepared solutions under supervision.

• Prepare science-related equipment, materials, and apparatus for practical lessons.

• Distribute and replenish laboratory equipment and chemicals for students during practical sessions.

• Follow all laboratory safety procedures when handling chemicals, glassware, and equipment.

4. General Laboratory Assistance

• Support the laboratory technician in daily laboratory operations.

• Assist with maintaining adequate supplies of laboratory materials and cleaning products.

• Follow instructions to ensure laboratories and preparation rooms are ready for practical lessons.

• Perform other related duties as assigned by the school.
