Job summary

Hougang Primary School seeks a Science Laboratory Assistant to support laboratory operations, lesson preparation and resource management. This contract runs from 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2028, with weekly hours including 7:30am–5:00pm (Mon–Thu) and 7:30am–4:30pm on Fridays, excluding weekends and gazetted holidays.

The role requires 3 years in a school lab setting, O-Level pass in Science, and the ability to work independently with safety, inventory and basic IT duties in a school science

Qualifications

• Preferably 3 years of experience in an educational institution providing Science laboratory assistance.
• Minimum GCE O-Level with a pass in at least one Science subject, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Candidates with a qualification in a Science or Science-related field are preferred.
• Able to work independently and demonstrate proficiency in laboratory equipment handling, safety procedures, inventory management, and basic IT for record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Science laboratories and preparation room.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe laboratory environment.
• Prepare, set up and clear equipment, apparatus, specimens for practical lessons and experiments.
• Support teachers in preparing resources for curriculum lessons and enrichment programmes.
• Maintain inventory, stock records and assist procurement of science apparatus and consumables.
