Working Hours
The Personnel Shall Be Deployed During The Following Hours
- Monday to Friday: 8:30am to 2:00pm (inclusive of a 0.5‑hour lunch break)
- Service not required during:
- School holidays
- School events where teaching and learning do not take place
- Saturdays, Sundays, and gazetted public holidays
Scope of Services
The appointed Science Lab Assistant shall perform the following duties:
- Prepare materials and set up experiment apparatus for each class or level, including class‑based and lab‑based lessons.
- Maintain the inventory loan list, track loaned items, and ensure timely return of apparatus.
- Clear and clean apparatus and equipment after science lessons.
- Notify the staff‑in‑charge of any depleted, damaged, or missing laboratory inventory.
- Maintain and service lab equipment (e.g., magnetising/demagnetising magnets, replacing microscope bulbs).
- Ensure the security of laboratory equipment and prevent unauthorized student entry.
- Refine science activity resources and make them student‑friendly when necessary.
- Assist teachers during hands‑on lab lessons when required.
- Ensure overall cleanliness and safety of the Science Rooms (e.g., checking bunsen burners, gas connections, and flame safety).
- Maintain the Science Resource Cupboard and update inventory lists when needed.
- Conduct termly stock‑taking of the Science Room and Resource Cupboard.
- Assist in preparing science room flashcards, including laminating materials.
- Assist with general clerical work in the General Office when required.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Principal, Vice‑Principal, Head of Department (Science), or Level Head (Science).
Qualifications and Skills
- At least one year of relevant experience working in a primary school environment.
- Ability to communicate fluently in English.
- Minimum qualification of GCE ‘N’ Level / ‘O’ Level or equivalent.
- Candidates without formal qualifications but with relevant experience may also apply.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team with a pleasant and positive disposition.
- Preferably trained in basic first aid.
- Preferably a hands‑on individual comfortable with handling experiment setups and lab materials.
