Working Hours
- School Term (Monday – Friday): 5 hours daily (reporting time varies between 7:30 AM and 3:00 PM)
 - Fridays: 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM (inclusive of 1-hour lunch break)
 - Not required on Saturdays, Sundays, and gazetted public holidays
 
Scope of Services
The Science Lab Assistant will support the Science Department with laboratory and event operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with Science level representatives to prepare apparatus and materials for lessons.
 - Prepare equipment and materials for internal performance tasks.
 - Assist in invigilation of Science practical examinations.
 - Collaborate with the Operations Support Officer (OSO) to maintain cleanliness of Science labs and the Rooftop Garden.
 - Maintain stock records, inventories, and equipment lists.
 - Ensure adherence to safety practices and protocols in Science labs.
 - Upkeep the condition of labs and the Rooftop Garden.
 - Support teachers with Science-related events such as Discover Science (monthly), STEM Carnival, and Hydroponics activities.
 - Enhance Science labs with print-rich displays (posters, concept cartoons, visual learning materials).
 - Perform routine servicing and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
 - Arrange repairs with external service providers when necessary.
 - Care for fauna and flora within the Science Department in accordance with regulations and best practices.
 - Perform other duties assigned by the school.
 
Qualifications & Skills
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment, chemical preparation, disposal procedures, and hazardous spill clean-up.
 - Basic computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel).
 - Familiarity with classroom procedures for Science experiments and group work.
 - Strong documentation and record-keeping ability.
 - Good organisational skills and time management.
 - Attention to detail and accuracy.
 - Ability to provide guidance, instructions, and advice on workflow and procedures.
 - Strong teamwork and ability to work effectively in a school setting.
 
Experience
- Prior experience working in a primary school Science laboratory setting is preferred.
