Job summary

Public Service Division's School of Engineering seeks a Lecturer (Common Engineering Programme) to design and deliver curriculum for full-time diploma students in Mathematics, Statistics, Programming, and related disciplines.

The role also develops CET courses for adult learners, handles module administration and assessments, and participates in research and data analytics projects, with emphasis on student supervision, competitions, and outreach activities.

Qualifications

• Engineering or related discipline required.
• Preferably 3+ years in engineering industry.
• Strong interest in curriculum development for Math/Stats/Programming.
• Passion for sharing knowledge with youth and adults.
• Experience in Data Analytics: data manipulation, modelling, visualization.
• Experience with R, Python, MATLAB or SPSS and Tableau/Power BI.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good planning, organising, and multi-tasking.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently or in a team.

School of Engineering - Lecturer (Common Engineering Programme)

[What you will be working on]

• Develop curriculum and deliver lessons to full-time diploma (PET) students in areas of Mathematics, Statistics, Programming as well as other Engineering disciplines.
• Develop and conduct Continuing Education and Training (CET) courses for adult learners.
• Handle administrative work relating to teaching and managing modules which include crafting and marking assessments.
• Lead or participate in academic research projects, data analysis projects, R&D/Implementation projects and/or poly-wide projects.
• Enhance students' learning through activities such as supervising projects and internships, training students for competitions, and leading them on educational programmes, students' overseas trips or service-learning events.
• Support students in providing pastoral care and guidance.
• Involve in school activities such as outreach events and similar activities.

[What we are looking for]

• A qualification in Engineering or related discipline.
• Preferably with at least 3 years of relevant industry experience in the Engineering field.
• Strong interest in the development of curriculum especially for Mathematics, Statistics and/or Programming.
• Technically competent, as well as have a passion and genuine interest to share knowledge and interact with youth and adults.
• Have experience in Data Analytics (hands-on data manipulation, data modelling and data visualisation).
• Have experience in using Statistical Modelling tools such as R, Python, MATLAB or SPSS and Visual Analytics Technologies such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Have strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with management and colleagues.
• Possess sound planning, organising, writing and multi-tasking skills, with a strong sense of commitment and responsibility for completing assigned tasks on time.
• Highly motivated, and able to work independently and in a team.
