Job summary

Boon Lay Garden Primary School is seeking a dedicated horticultural/gardening assistant to maintain the school's green spaces and urban farming facilities, including hydroponics systems and library planter towers. Responsibilities include watering, pruning, fertilising, pest management, and assisting in project work with students.

The role requires prior experience in school environments and comfort working with children in educational activities.

Qualifications

• Experience in providing horticultural, gardening, or urban farming services in a school environment.
• Experience working with or supporting children in an educational setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day care and maintenance of the School's green spaces and urban farming facilities, including watering as required.
• Provide horticultural knowledge and advice on pruning, fertilising, pest management and general care of green spaces.
• Regularly inspect the School’s green spaces and undertake minor repairs or escalate to the Teacher-in-Charge.
• Monitor health of plants in green spaces and ensure proper growth.
• Identify and address pest and fungal issues; apply organic pesticides when appropriate.
• Carry out routine trimming, fertilising, mulching, edging and weeding of the green spaces.
• Conduct routine inventory checks and organise gardening equipment and stores.
• Assist the CCA Environmental Club during sessions involving germination, transplanting and harvesting.
