An educational institution in Singapore is seeking a School Counsellor to provide professional counselling support to students. Responsibilities include individual and group counselling, identifying at-risk students, and maintaining confidential records. The ideal candidate should have 2-3 years of counselling experience, a certified qualification in Counselling, and be fluent in English and Mandarin. This role requires strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to student well-being.
The School Counsellor provides professional counselling support to students, promotes student well-being, and works closely with academic and administrative teams to support student development within the institution.
Provide individual and group counselling to students on academic, personal, emotional, and social matters
Identify students at risk and provide appropriate intervention, referral, and follow-up support
Maintain accurate and confidential counselling records and case notes
Work collaboratively with academic staff and student services on student welfare matters
Support student administration matters, including student discipline, attendance, and well-being cases
Conduct workshops, talks, or outreach programmes related to mental wellness and student development
Engage parents or external professionals when necessary, in accordance with school policies
Comply with institutional policies, professional ethics, and confidentiality requirements
Minimum 2–3 years of counselling experience, preferably in higher education or a school environment
Certified qualification in Counselling (e.g. Diploma, Degree, or Postgraduate qualification in Counselling or related field)
Experience working with students and handling student-related administrative matters
Able to converse fluently in English and Mandarin to support a diverse student population
Strong interpersonal, communication, and listening skills
Professional, empathetic, and able to manage sensitive situations with discretion
Familiarity with student welfare policies and educational settings is an advantage
Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Strong organisational and documentation skills
Commitment to student well-being and ethical counselling practices
