The Sales Manager (Sporting Goods) is responsible for driving sales performance, developing strategic growth plans, managing key retail accounts, and leading the sales team to achieve revenue, profitability, and market share targets within the sporting goods category. This role requires strong leadership, understanding of retail dynamics, and deep knowledge of the sporting goods market.
A. Sales Strategy & Performance
Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets.
Analyze market trends, competitors, and consumer behaviour to identify growth opportunities.
Set sales goals and KPIs for the sales team and monitor performance.
Prepare weekly and monthly sales performance reports.
B. Account Management
Manage key retail partners (e.g., Sports Retail Chains, Department Stores, Online Platforms).
Build strong relationships with buyers and account stakeholders.
Negotiate pricing, promotions, trading terms, and product listing/placement.
Ensure timely order processing, delivery coordination, and stock availability.
C. Retail Operations Support
Work closely with store teams to ensure brand visibility and merchandising standards.
Support new store openings, product launches, seasonal events, and in-store promotions.
Coordinate with Marketing on campaigns, activations, and sponsorship opportunities.
D. Team Leadership
Lead, motivate, and train the sales team (executives, coordinators, promoters).
Conduct regular coaching sessions to improve product knowledge and sales skills.
Oversee team scheduling, sales routes, and customer visit plans.
E. Inventory & Forecasting
Collaborate with Supply Chain and Warehouse to forecast demand and manage stock levels.
Monitor sell‑in and sell‑through performance to reduce aging stock.
Plan product assortment based on seasonality and market trends.
F. Reporting & Administrative Tasks
Prepare monthly sales analysis, forecast updates, and business reviews.
Manage and monitor sales budgets, discounts, and incentives.
Ensure compliance with company policies and retail partner requirements.
Education & Experience
Diploma or Degree in Business, Marketing, Sports Management, or related field.
Minimum 3–5 years of sales experience in retail, FMCG, or sporting goods industry.
Experience managing retail chains, distributors, or e‑commerce partners is preferred.
