Position Summary
The Event Sales Manager is responsible for generating new business and managing existing client relationships to drive revenue for the organization’s event services. This role focuses on selling event space, developing customized proposals, coordinating event requirements, and ensuring exceptional customer experiences from initial inquiry through event execution. The ideal candidate is a proactive sales professional who excels at relationship building, negotiation, and driving results.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Prospect, identify, and secure new event clients through outreach, networking, and relationship-building.
- Develop and deliver compelling proposals, presentations, and contracts tailored to client needs.
- Meet or exceed monthly and annual sales targets for event bookings and revenue.
- Build and maintain an active sales pipeline and accurate forecasting.
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for event clients, from initial inquiry to contract signing.
- Conduct site tours, consultations, and strategy meetings to understand event objectives.
- Provide exceptional customer service to retain and grow long-term client relationships.
- Identify opportunities for upselling additional services (catering, A/V, décor, rentals, etc.).
Event Coordination & Collaboration
- Partner with internal departments (operations, catering, A/V, marketing) to ensure smooth event planning and execution.
- Communicate event specifications clearly to operations teams, ensuring accurate implementation.
- Attend key events as needed to ensure client satisfaction and troubleshoot issues.
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate CRM records of all sales activities, leads, contracts, and communications.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales reports.
- Monitor market trends and competitor offerings to adjust sales strategies.
- Assist in developing marketing initiatives, promotions, and event packages.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, hospitality, marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2–5 years of experience in event sales, hospitality sales, or venue management.
- Proven success in meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple clients and events simultaneously.
- Proficiency with CRM and event management software.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in hotels, catering, entertainment venues, convention centers, or corporate events.
- Existing network within the event planning, hospitality, or corporate sectors.
- Knowledge of event design, A/V, catering, and venue operations.
- Certification (CMP, CSEP, or similar) is a plus.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced environment with deadlines and shifting priorities.
- Some evening, weekend, or holiday work required based on event schedules.
- Role may involve standing for extended periods during site tours or events.
