Safety Technician

The Role

As Safety Technician, you’ll play a key role in ensuring safe and efficient operations within our yard and workshop. This hands‑on position involves maintaining equipment, supporting operational tasks, and keeping the yard organised and compliant with safety standards. Working closely with the operations team, you’ll help maintain, repair, and build equipment while providing safety oversight to ensure all activities are carried out in a secure environment. You’ll also assess facilities to confirm they’re suitable for the work being undertaken. In addition, you will collaborate with the yard team to keep operations running smoothly, supporting both operational delivery and HSEQ requirements. This is a dynamic role for someone who values safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.

What you’ll be doing
  • Ensure the efficient and safe movement and maintenance of equipment and materials in yard.
  • Maintain the organisation and cleanliness of the yard, ensuring it is free from hazards.
  • Conduct regular audits & inspections of the yard and the operations being conducted to identify and address any safety, quality or operational issues. These reports will be documented and passed to the JFF Head of HSSEQ.
  • Provide safety and operational‑related training to the yard team as may be required from time to time, including safety inductions to any new members of the team.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all yard activities and report them to the Yard Supervisor or Line manager as appropriate.
  • Work with and support the yard team as needed, ensuring smooth operations.

  • Familiarity with safety regulations and protocols.
  • Basic knowledge of equipment and materials used in the yard.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Experience operating forklifts and other heavy equipment.
  • Experience in handling and verifying incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Strong attention to detail for verifying shipments and maintaining records.
  • Good communication skills to work effectively with the yard team and other departments.
  • Problem‑solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise in the yard.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina to perform tasks that may require lifting and moving heavy objects.
