Job description
What the role is:

You are responsible for managing safety matters in the unit including safety education, incident reporting, investigation and analysis, hazard and near-miss reporting, safety audits and inspections, worksite safety, fire safety and unit's occupational health management.

What you will be working on:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Unit Safety Programme focusing on incident prevention across four functional areas: safety education, incident reporting, investigation and analysis, hazards and near-miss reporting, and safety audits and inspections.
  • Serve as custodian of Unit Safety Standing Operating Procedures (USSOP) and work with stakeholders to ensure constant updates.
  • Discuss, review and recommend remedial actions for incident occurrences and inspection observations.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert on Safety and ensure certification tests are carried out to determine competency of safety personnel before specialist appointments.
  • Ensure professional engineer and technical certification for building infrastructure.
  • Conduct risk assessment on high-risk training activities and ensure proper documentation of risk-management plan and risk assessment worksheet report for all unit activities.
  • Having deep understanding of Army’s Safety system and culture, policies and directives that guide local and overseas training.
  • Having in-depth understanding of policies, systems, processes and key stakeholder linkages.
  • Ensuring training conducted adheres to safe policies.
  • Communicating policies and implementation clearly to all stakeholders.
