Job summary

SGX Group is seeking software engineers who turn ambiguous problems into reliable production systems. You will partner with product, architecture, and security teams to shape what gets built, prototype quickly, and harden the result for live markets.

This generalist role emphasizes AI agent orchestration across the full SDLC, delivering secure, scalable services in a regulated environment. You’ll own end-to-end initiatives and raise the bar for platform quality.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a track record of taking work from idea to production
• AI-native ways of working: orchestrating coding agents and agentic workflows across the SDLC
• Fluency in two or more modern languages (e.g. Java, Kotlin, TypeScript, Python, Rust) and willingness to learn
• Solid foundations in distributed systems, APIs, and messaging
• Production mindset across testing, observability, security, and CI/CD
• Product instinct and comfort shaping scope in complex, regulated environments

Responsibilities

• Own initiatives end-to-end: clarify and extend requirements with stakeholders, propose what to build, and release and operate it
• Move from idea to working prototype, then evolve into production systems that handle edge cases and scale
• Apply AI agentically across the full SDLC and contribute to internal agentic workflows
• Define release readiness: test strategy, rollout plans, observability, runbooks, and security/documentation as first-class concerns
• Design and integrate distributed systems with messaging (Kafka), orchestration (Kubernetes), and performance protocols (Aeron, gRPC, Protobuf)

The opportunity

SGX is hiring product-minded engineers to take initiatives from ambiguous problem to running production system. You'll partner with stakeholders to shape what gets built, prototype rapidly to validate direction, and harden the result into systems we operate with confidence. This is a generalist role for engineers who like build and can orchestrate AI agents across the SDLC.

We operate in a regulated capital-markets environment, so the bar for quality, security, and operational rigour is high.

The Software Engineering team

Software Engineering builds, runs and evolves the applications and platforms behind SGX Group's business and market infrastructure.

The team works closely with product, architecture, platform, security and delivery colleagues to turn business priorities into secure, resilient and scalable services. Its remit spans the full engineering lifecycle, from technical design and delivery through to production ownership and continuous improvement.

Our next phase is about strengthening engineering ownership, modernising platforms and practices and building consistency across teams without flattening the different needs of each business domain.

What you will do

• Own initiatives end-to-end: clarify and extend requirements with stakeholders, propose what to build, and see it through release and operation
• Move from idea to working prototype in days, then evolve prototypes into production systems that handle edge cases, scale, and adversarial conditions
• Apply AI agentically across the full SDLC, and contribute back to our internal agentic ecosystem: the workflows and tools the rest of the team relies on
• Define release readiness: test strategy, rollout plans, observability, runbooks, and treat security, maintainability, and documentation as first-class concerns
• Design and integrate distributed systems where they matter: messaging (e.g. Kafka), orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes), performance-sensitive protocols (e.g. Aeron, gRPC, Protobuf), etc

What we are looking for

Essentials

• 5+ years of professional software engineering, with a clear track record of taking work from idea to production and owning it there
• AI-native ways of working: real experience orchestrating coding agents and composing agentic workflows across specification, build, test, deploy, and operation
• Fluency in at least two modern languages (e.g. Java, Kotlin, TypeScript, Python, Rust) and willingness to learn whatever a problem demands
• Solid foundations in distributed systems, APIs, and messaging, with judgement about when sophistication is warranted
• Production mindset across testing, observability, security, and CI/CD
• Product instinct: comfortable shaping scope rather than waiting for a complete spec
• Comfort in complex, regulated environments

What may set you apart

• Familiarity with the FIX protocol or capital-markets domain
• Experience building internal developer tools, agent frameworks, or platform tooling
• Front-end experience to support end-to-end prototyping
