Job description

Rope Access Specialist / IRATA Level 3 Technician

We are seeking a highly experienced and certified IRATA Level 3 Rope Access Specialist to report directly to the Director and oversee the safety, technical compliance, and quality assurance of our rope access systems. This crucial role acts as the internal expert, responsible for the execution of work and the management of all documentation required for regulatory approval, particularly compliance with SS 570 and liaising with the Professional Engineer (PE) for certification.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. Anchor Compliance, Installation & Certification
  • PE Documentation Liaison: Liaise directly with the Professional Engineer (PE) to obtain and provide all necessary documents (designs, specifications, test reports) required to comply with regulatory standards and secure the Certificate of Supervision (COS).
  • SS 570 Compliance: Ensure all anchor devices, installation procedures, and testing methods strictly comply with the requirements of Singapore Standard SS 570 (latest edition) and IRATA guidelines.
  • Anchor Installation: Oversee and/or personally perform the installation of anchor bolts/systems on site according to the PE's design.
  • On-Site Testing & Verification: Plan, conduct, and supervise the pull-out testing of anchor bolts on site, accurately recording and submitting results to the PE for final certification.
  • COS Management: Actively assist the PE to certify the Anchor Bolt systems and obtain the necessary COS on site.
2. Safety & Site Management
  • Safety Documentation: Prepare and vet all comprehensive safety documents, including site-specific Risk Assessments (RA) and Method Statements for rope access projects.
  • Site Monitoring: Provide continuous on-site supervision and monitoring of all rope access systems and techniques during work (e.g., rope integrity, rigging, rescue readiness).
  • Safety Meetings: Lead and conduct effective Toolbox Meetings (TBM) and RA meetings with the rope access team.
  • Internal Inspection: Conduct regular internal team inspections and maintain the register for all rope access equipment, ropes, and PPE.
3. Operational & Technical Leadership
  • Supervise and train Level 1 and Level 2 technicians, maintaining the team's operational competency.
  • Ensure efficient and safe execution of all work-at-height tasks.
  • Lead routine and emergency rescue planning and execution in compliance with IRATA standards.
✅ Requirements
  • IRATA Level 3 Certification is mandatory and current.
  • A minimum of 3 years of operational experience as an IRATA Level 3 Technician.
  • In-depth technical expertise in Singapore Standards (SS 570) and WSH (Work at Heights) Regulations pertaining to anchorage and industrial rope access systems.
  • Proven hands‑on experience in anchor installation, pull‑out testing, data recording, and compliance reporting.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English for communication with the Director, PE, and field team.
  • Proven ability to manage technical compliance documentation for regulatory approval.
