Job description

Focus: Robotic Arms & PLC Control Core Responsibilities: Develop and support interfaces for robotic arms and gantry robots on the production floor (e.g. robots handling drive components or transferring units between stations). Integrate these robots with MES and other control systems such that robotic actions (pick, place, assemble, etc.) are triggered by software commands and reported to systems in real time. Work with PLC/SCADA systems that control conveyors, sorters, turn tables, shuttles, and other auxiliary devices; implement middleware or IoT gateways to bridge PLC signals with the factory IT layer. For example, ensure that when a robot places a unit on a conveyor, the PLC detects it and the MES is immediately updated with the unit’s location.

Must Have Skills
  • Experience integrating industrial robotic arms into automated production lines, including using vendor APIs or standards (OPC UA, ROS-I) to command and monitor robots.
  • Solid understanding of PLC/SCADA systems and how to interface with them – able to interpret and utilize signals from PLCs to synchronize robot actions with conveyors or other equipment.
  • Strong programming skills (C# or Java preferred) for writing middleware that coordinates between robots, PLCs, and higher-level IT systems.
Good to Have Skills
  • Hands‑on knowledge of PLC programming or configuration, which aids in troubleshooting and fine‑tuning the interface between IT and control systems.
  • Familiarity with robot motion programming and error handling, enabling quicker diagnosis of robot faults or misalignments.
  • Understanding safety standards and interlocks for robotic cells (to ensure the software integration upholds all required safety stops and guard checks).
