Job description
About the Client

We are representing a confidential client at the forefront of humanoid robotics. The company is building a high-performance, open-source robotics platform—designing everything in-house, from aluminum mechanical structures to custom PCBs and embedded control systems. Their mission is to make real-world robotics accessible to global developers, startups, and researchers.

Role Overview

As the Electrical Engineer on the team, you’ll lead the full hardware development lifecycle for the robot’s electrical systems—covering architecture, testing, manufacturability, and compliance. You’ll work closely with firmware and mechanical teams to ensure the robot\'s electrical platform is robust, reliable, and production-ready.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design schematics and PCB layouts for motor controllers, power distribution units, and sensor subsystems
  • Lead prototyping, debugging, and bring-up of actuator control systems and embedded sensors
  • Drive productization efforts with focus on DFM (Design for Manufacturing), robustness, and EMC compliance
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with firmware teams to optimize sensor feedback, motor controls, and comms protocols (CAN, UART, SPI)
  • Validate system performance through electrical testing, oscilloscopes, bus analyzers, and logic tools
  • Own connector strategy, signal integrity, grounding, and EMI suppression for reliable operation
Requirements
  • 3+ years experience with PCB design (Altium or similar)
  • Strong understanding of low-voltage DC power systems, gate drivers, passive networks, and current-sense components
  • Familiarity with motors, sensors, data buses (CAN, UART, SPI), and wire harnessing
  • Proficient with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, CAN/UART sniffers (e.g. Saleae, CANalyzer)
  • Hands-on experience in EMC troubleshooting, signal integrity, and robust grounding strategies
Nice to Have
  • C or Python for testing, scripting, or firmware support
  • Familiarity with Jetson (Orin Nano / NX) or ARM-based embedded compute platforms
  • Circuit modeling using SPICE or similar tools
  • Background in battery systems and BMS architecture
