Robotics & Automation Engineer / Senior Engineer
Role Overview:
The company is looking for a hands‑on and project‑driven Robotics & Automation Engineer / Senior Engineer to support warehouse automation initiatives within a 3PL logistics environment.
The role will be involved in warehouse automation projects such as shuttle systems, AGVs/AMRs, conveyors, robotic arms, and other warehouse productivity solutions.
The successful candidate will work closely with operations teams, internal software developers, vendors, and system integrators to implement practical automation solutions that improve productivity, reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.
This role is suitable for someone who enjoys solving warehouse operational problems through practical automation solutions. The candidate should also be able to think critically, structure problem statements, evaluate solution trade‑offs, and present recommendations clearly.
Key Responsibilities:
Automation Project Implementation
- Support and lead warehouse automation projects from planning to implementation, testing, commissioning, and go‑live.
- Analyze warehouse workflows, process gaps, operational constraints, and improvement opportunities to identify practical automation solutions.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, system integrators, and internal stakeholders to deliver automation projects on time and according to requirements.
Robotics & Warehouse Automation Support
- Support the deployment and operation of warehouse automation systems such as shuttle systems, AGVs/AMRs, conveyors, robotic arms, automated workstations, and other productivity solutions.
- Work with internal software developers and vendors on integration between automation systems and iHub’s in-house WMS.
- Conduct hands‑on testing, troubleshooting, calibration, and basic optimization of automation systems.
Troubleshooting, Maintenance & Continuous Improvement
- Support ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting of implemented automation systems.
- Conduct structured root cause analysis for equipment, process, or system‑related issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor automation system performance and identify improvement opportunities to improve uptime, reliability, throughput, safety, and efficiency.
Documentation, Testing & Communication
- Prepare and maintain SOPs, user guides, maintenance procedures, test records, and handover documents.
- Develop clear testing and validation plans to confirm automation solutions meet operational objectives.
- Present proposals, assumptions, trade‑offs, risks, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 4 to 8 years of experience in robotics, automation, warehouse automation, material handling, or system integration, preferably within logistics, 3PL, warehouse operations, automation vendor, or system integrator environments.
- Hands‑on and practical, with the ability to work closely with operations teams, technical teams, vendors, and external stakeholders to deliver automation‑related projects.
- Able to manage assigned project deliverables independently, including coordination, follow‑up, issue resolution, and progress tracking.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to explain technical ideas clearly to both technical and non‑technical users.
- Ability to communicate in Mandarin is preferred, as the role may involve coordination with Mandarin‑speaking vendors, suppliers, or technical teams.
Core Skills:
- Experience in automation project implementation, equipment deployment, or system integration.
- Familiarity with warehouse automation or material handling systems such as AGVs/AMRs, conveyors.
- Strong troubleshooting and structured root cause analysis capability.
- Ability to understand warehouse workflows and convert operational problems into practical automation solutions.
- Ability to evaluate solution options based on cost, effectiveness, integration complexity, maintainability, and operational impact.
- Good vendor and stakeholder coordination skills.
Good-to-Have Skills
- Familiarity with robotic arm programming, PLC programming, Python, C++, ROS/ROS2, or similar automation tools.
- Experience working with WMS, WCS, HMI, SCADA, or equipment control systems.
- Basic CAD skills using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Inventor, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of machine safety, Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma, or productivity improvement methods would be advantageous.
