Job description

Location: Lab / Field Sites, Singapore
Team: Operations & Data Collection
Type: Full-Time

The Role

We’re hiring full-time Robot Operators cum Procurement Officers to power our real-world robotics data operations. You’ll operate at the frontier where AI meets reality — capturing high-value manipulation and interaction data that trains frontier world and robotics models, while also supporting operational excellence through timely procurement of hardware, tools, and software licenses needed for day-to-day robotic development.

You’ll work across two operational modes and an essential procurement function:

Teleoperation Mode

Control robotic arms to perform real-world manipulation tasks while capturing synchronized robot data for embodied AI training.

Egocentric Mode

Wear a VR headset to perform physical tasks for high-fidelity, human-centric data capture.

Procurement & Inventory Support

Coordinate purchasing of mechanical parts, electronics, tools, sensors, software licenses, and other components essential for robotics R&D and data collection.

Between sessions, you’ll also maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot robotic systems and help ensure the lab, tools, and inventory function smoothly.

Key Responsibilities
Robot Teleoperation & Data Collection
  • Operate robotic arms and grippers through teleoperation systems to perform manipulation tasks (picking, placing, assembling, tool handling, sorting).
  • Capture synchronized robot-centric data (joint states, sensor feedback, camera feeds, gripper signals).
  • Ensure safety, accuracy, and repeatability across repeated trials and environments.
  • Monitor robot behavior, log anomalies, record outcomes, and elevate issues when necessary.
  • Collaborate with engineering to improve teleoperation latency, control responsiveness, and data quality.
  • Maintain accurate metadata logs for each task and session.
Egocentric Data Collection
  • Wear a VR headset to perform diverse real-world tasks from a human perspective.
  • Capture egocentric visual and sensor data for pretraining and multimodal datasets.
  • Follow standardized scripts and protocols to ensure consistency across trials.
  • Review, tag, and annotate recorded data when needed.
Robot Maintenance & Lab Support
  • Conduct routine mechanical, electrical, and sensor maintenance.
  • Assist with the setup of new robot workcells, including mounting, cabling, calibration, and safety checks.
  • Support troubleshooting of hardware, connectivity, and system issues.
  • Keep the workspace organized and adhere to safety standards.
Procurement & Inventory Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and execute purchases of hardware, tools, electronic components, sensors, consumables, and software licenses required for robotics projects.
  • Work closely with engineers to understand technical specifications before purchasing.
  • Source and compare suppliers, ensuring cost-effectiveness and timely procurement.
  • Maintain inventory of mechanical parts, tools, robot accessories, cables, electronics, etc.
  • Track delivery timelines and follow up with vendors to prevent operational delays.
  • Maintain organized records of purchases, invoices, warranties, and supplier contacts.
  • Assist in forecasting upcoming procurement needs based on ongoing and upcoming projects.
  • Ensure all purchased items meet the required standards for robotics R&D and field operations.
Requirements
  • Strong hand–eye coordination, spatial reasoning, and attention to detail.
  • Physically capable of performing manipulation tasks and wearing a VR headset for extended sessions.
  • Hands‑on experience with robotic arms, teleoperation systems, or automation equipment.
  • Comfortable working with tools, sensors, and mechanical fixtures.
  • Ability to work methodically and safely in fast‑paced, experimental environments.
  • Strong organization skills for managing procurement tasks, inventory, and vendor communication.
  • Basic familiarity with mechanical/electrical components to make informed procurement decisions.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in robot data collection, motion capture, or human-in-the-loop control.
  • Prior experience in procurement, supply chain coordination, or lab operations support.
  • Experience reviewing technical datasheets or BOMs (Bill of Materials).
  • Familiarity with robotics hardware (motors, controllers, sensors, cables, mounts).
Work Environment
  • Hybrid of lab-based and onsite workplace operations across industrial, office, and service environments.
  • Requires wearing a VR headset for egocentric sessions (a few hours per session).
  • Involves handling mechanical and electrical components regularly.
Why Join Cortex
  • Work directly on the frontier of physical AI — where human demonstration and robotic intelligence converge.
  • Your contribution enables the training of world and robotics foundation models used by top research labs and companies.
  • Collaborate with a passionate, high-energy team of engineers and roboticists.
  • Hands‑on access to state-of-the-art teleoperation rigs, VR systems, and multi‑sensor robots.
