OVERVIEW
Our client is a well-established Japanese bank with a growing presence in Singapore, backed by a strong balance sheet and solid credit ratings. This bank has a long operating history and continues to expand its regional footprint, particularly across Asia, while supporting clients with cross-border financial services.
They are looking for a Risk Management Officer for their branch in Singapore.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of the Branch’s risk management framework, including policies and procedures
- Prepare materials for key internal committees such as Credit, ALM, and Operational Risk, and coordinate meetings while serving as the secretariat
- Monitor and analyze key risk indicators, limits, and risk appetite metrics, with timely escalation of breaches or emerging risks
- Produce and maintain regular risk reports covering areas such as VaR, fixed income valuations, FX exposures, and interest rate positions
- Manage outsourcing risk in line with MAS requirements, including maintaining registers, performing due diligence, and supporting periodic reviews and reporting
- Assist in Business Continuity Planning (BCP) activities, including coordinating testing, updating documentation, and tracking follow-up actions
- Track regulatory developments and assess their implications for the Bank’s risk management framework
- Oversee the lifecycle of internal policies and procedures, including initiating reviews and implementing updates
- Perform Expected Credit Loss (ECL) calculations and monitoring in accordance with relevant accounting standards and internal guidelines
- Handle MAS-related rating processes and associated documentation
- Maintain and update credit files and supporting documentation
- Support internal and external audits, regulatory reviews, and follow-up remediation actions
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by senior risk management leadership
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Accounting, or a related field
- Strong understanding of MAS regulations and risk management principles
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in risk management, audit, or banking operations within a financial institution
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly present issues to management
- A collaborative team player with a positive and proactive attitude
- Japanese language skills preferred but not mandatory in order to liaise with Japanese speaking stakeholders.
