Overview

Black Box Network Services, the global leader in communication system integration, is looking for Data Center Technician with basic Networking knowledge.

Some proven track record in:

• Good Understanding and knowledge about IP address
• Good Understanding and knowledge Mac address
• Good Understanding and knowledge Vlan, LAN & WAN
• Physical layer troubleshooting
• Good knowledge with Ping, trace commands
• Hardware break fix support
• Good Understanding on Routing protocols
• Knowledgeable on type of Patch Cords (SMF/MMF/Copper cable)
• OSI /TCP/IP Model
• ARP
• Knowledgeable on switches and ports (Console Port, Management Port, ilo, IDrac)
• Racking and stacking of network devices
• Perform Cable patching (end to end connectivity)
• Installing and troubleshooting enterprise equipment
• This position will support facilities management with a commitment and desire to satisfy our client by completing all work at the highest level, always striving for perfection. The candidate must be motivated and self-driven for success.

Primary Roles & Responsibilities

• The patching cabling between network equipment and client’s network
• The installation of power cables from equipment to power supply in rack/cabinet/closet
• The installation, troubleshooting and de-installing IT equipment (Servers / Network / Storage / etc)
• Install/swap out devices (e.g., phone, computers, cables, boards, edge routers, switches and etc.)
• Complete all hard and complex Move, Add Change (MAC) requests within the defined service levels
• Act as interface between client’s associates and management
• Provide hardware break-fix services for network infrastructure
• Perform onsite call-through, data, voice, website and security testing
• Perform back-up testing to ensure all systems are connected to the client’s network as directed
• Support carrier testing of circuits
• Assist with facilities efforts such as vendor co-ordination and vendor supervision
• Power and uninterruptable power supply (UPS) restoral
• Emergency cooling restoration
• Fire suppression exercises, restoration, and post fire events
• Support inventory management activities
• Receiving inventory
• Tagging of assets
• Tracking spares (crash kits)
• Ordering inventory
• Updating inventory records
• Prepare and return damaged equipment
• Act as an interface, as needed, between associates at the applicable location and centralized project / operations. MAC management.
