Job summary

Vanguard Healthcare Pte Ltd in Singapore is seeking a Senior Healthcare Assistant to support nursing staff across our Bukit Batok, Woodlands, Senja, Tampines, and Pearl Hill Care Homes.

You will assist with daily living activities, meals, escorts to appointments, and participate in quality improvement audits while ensuring resident safety and a caring environment. The role requires PSLE or WPLN and good communication, teamwork, and the ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts.

Qualifications

Job Description:

Basic Nursing Care:

• Assist with resident’s personal care tasks, and activities of daily living (ADLs) such as showering, toileting, brushing of teeth, cleaning of dentures, lifting, transferring and positioning of residents, filing of nails, etc.
• Serve diet / remove meal trays. Oral feed residents who require assistance with oral feeding.
• Provide general observation support to nursing staff, to inform them about any residents’ anomalies such as overall outlook, skin condition and discrepancies in behaviour.
• Adhere to safe work practices and the policy, values and procedures set out within the care home facility.
• Perform simple data entry tasks involving the recording of patient type/number.
• Maintain a clean, well-organised and pleasant environment for all residents.
• Provide medical escort services for residents who need to attend medical appointments.
• Ensure residents safety and facilitate social-emotional support through suitable activities.
• Participate in quality improvement audits and activities, as assigned.
• Any other duties as assigned by nursing staff.

When required, to stand in as a Facility Assistant (Laundry)

• Carry out appropriate laundry collection and distribution.
• Carry out pre-treatment of heavily soiled linen.
• Carry out ironing and folding of linen.
• Ensure clear labelling of residents’ clothing.
• Ensure proper handling of washers, dryers, and chemicals.
• Sew buttons and torn linen/clothes when required.
• Report any maintenance deficiencies detected within the laundry area to the Operations Executive.
• Ensure laundry supplies are adequate to meet the daily needs of the Care Home.
• Keep work areas free of hazardous conditions.
• Ensure that laundry tools / equipment is cleansed and properly stored after usage.
• To assist with laundry count/audit.

When required, to stand in as a Facility Assistant (Kitchen)

• Work with vendors to receive food and conduct plating activities.
• Assist in the maintenance of food hygiene (storage of food, food temperature maintenance, food preparation).
• Upkeep environmental cleanliness (washing of dishes and cutlery), including daily cleaning and weekly deep cleaning.
• Ensure proper handling of chemicals.
• Report any maintenance deficiencies detected within the kitchen to the Operations Executive.
• Ensure kitchen supplies are adequate to meet the daily needs of the nursing home.
• Keep work areas free of hazardous conditions. Ensure that kitchen tools / equipment is cleansed and properly stored after usage.
• Work with the Operations Manager to audit the kitchen facilities.

Senior Healthcare Assistant are expected to take part in nursing quality activities and any other expanded role/s as assigned by the NM/SNM.
