Requirements
- MBBS (Singapore Universities) or equivalent.
- Must have obtained Full / Conditional Registration with Singapore medical Councils (SMC). Doctors with conditional registration with SMC are to practice within the conditions of their registration.
- Doctors must be registered with the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) and issued with a valid Practicing Certificate.
- Resident Physicians should possess a minimum 3 years’ experience as medical officers (post-housemanship) or completed post-graduate year.
- Senior Resident Physicians should possess a minimum of 7 years’ experience as Medical Officer (post-housemanship) / Resident Physician.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Actively participate as a member or team lead for quality improvement projects at Hospital-wide/ Departmental level.
- Develop and review Job Instructions and job improvements for department work process as well as training and equipping staff to carry out their work correctly, safely and conscientiously.
- Promote a working environment of collegiality and effective teamwork.
- Perform any other duties as directed by the senior medical staff in their respective departments.
All Services
- Support the consultant in-charge in overall supervision and management of medical matters of the clinical service that the doctor is attached to.
- Responsible for supervision and teaching of Medical Officers and Family Medicine trainees, including (but not limited to) performance of procedures, and assisting with more complex cases.
- Responsible for completing the Discharge Summary and replying to referring doctor’s letters, informing them of diagnosis and progress etc., if applicable. Where applicable, a hard copy of the reply must always be kept within the case notes.
- Communicate with patient/ patient’s legal guardian/ individual designated by patient on the patient’s condition. For unconscious/ mentally incompetent patients who have not designated anyone, the staff may communicate with the patient’s next-of-kin or responsible family members.
- Responsible for explaining tests and procedures to patients and relatives.
- Responsible for signing death certificates in services where this is applicable.
- Attend departmental meetings, clinical incident meetings and multidisciplinary meetings.
- Attend and participate in the teaching sessions organized by the department or the campus.
