Job summary

The National University of Singapore is seeking a researcher to support process safety studies (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA) for methane handling and high-temperature operations, and to develop safety instrumented functions and alarm philosophies.

The role includes performing techno-economic analysis (TEA) and life cycle assessment (LCA) to optimize process design, quantify environmental impacts, and support technology scale-up and commercialization through collaboration with industrial partners.

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemical Engineering or related field required.
• Strong knowledge of HAZID/HAZOP/LOPA and risk assessment.
• Experience with TEA and/or LCA for chemical/energy processes preferred.
• Familiarity with ISO/IEC/ASME standards is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support process safety studies for methane handling, high-temperature operation, hydrogen pressurization, and regeneration.
• Develop safety instrumented functions, alarm/interlock philosophies, and proof-test procedures per standards.
• Conduct TEA and LCA to optimize process design, quantify environmental impacts, and support scale-up.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and industrial partners.
