Job Description

We are looking for a full-time research fellow to work on an urban landscape optimization project. Design technology is not a novel concept; it has been widely used to address various design challenges, such as visualization and performance assessment. Although it greatly helps designers gain a more profound insight into design, it should not be just a visualization or assessment tool but an essential component of design thinking processes. This project aims to use design technology to automate the design process and potentially complement experts' designs, in order to improve the rationale and efficiency of our design.

The research fellow is expected to join at the end of 2025 or early 2026. The position is a one-year appointment and might be renewed up to 2 years based on the performance and career plan of the hired person.

Responsibility
  • Develop and implement generative AI models for urban landscape planning and design
  • Interpret and analyse data
  • Collaborate with other team members to conduct interdisciplinary research
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences
  • Collaborate with the PI to develop research proposals and grant applications
Qualifications
  • A PhD degree in environmental science, GIS, computer science or other relevant disciplines
  • Good background knowledge and overall interest in design technology
  • Proficient in statistical and programming skills, like Python, MATLAB and R
  • Experience in spatial analysis
  • Experience in using large-scale data sets
  • Have strong publication records
  • Excellent scientific writing and communication skills
