Job Description

The Cancer Science Institute of Singapore (CSI Singapore), in collaboration with NextBio, is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the newly established Joint Organoid Research Laboratory. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of Asia’s largest organoid biobank and to advance precision oncology through patient‑representative and ethical preclinical research platforms.

The successful candidate will work at the intersection of cutting‑edge cancer biology, translational medicine, and biobanking, supporting the generation, characterization, and management of organoid resources derived from Asian cancer patients

1. Organoid Generation and Maintenance
  • Work within the joint CSI–NextBio collaborative laboratory to aid in the generation, culture, and validation of organoid models from patient‑derived samples.
  • Optimize and standardize protocols for organoid growth, cryopreservation, and recovery to ensure reproducibility and quality control.
2. Representation and Resource Management
  • Represent CSI within the collaborative laboratory and serve as the primary point of contact for all organoid materials generated for CSI use.
  • Oversee the proper storage, inventory, and monitoring of organoids designated for CSI, ensuring compliance with institutional biosafety and ethical standards.
  • Assist in establishing a systematic and approved framework for the distribution and usage of CSI‑assigned organoid materials among approved research groups.
3. Coordination and Reporting
  • Liaise with both CSI and NextBio teams to facilitate collaborative research workflows and ensure alignment of project objectives.
  • Prepare periodic progress reports and data summaries for submission to the CSI Reporting Manager, documenting key milestones and challenges.
  • Contribute to publications, presentations, and grant proposals arising from the collaborative research.
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related life sciences discipline.
  • Proven experience in 3D cell culture, organoid systems, or patient‑derived models is highly desirable.
  • Strong technical skills in mammalian cell culture, microscopy, and molecular biology techniques.
  • Familiarity with biobanking processes, sample tracking, and ethical governance in biomedical research will be an advantage.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and coordination skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across institutional boundaries.
  • Highly motivated, organized, and capable of working both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
