Job summary

Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore) invites applications for a Research Fellow to advance computational methods for reliability and robustness assessment of infrastructure systems. The role spans method development, code maintenance, publications, and grant writing, with supervision of students and collaboration across the lab and external partners.

Qualifications

• PhD in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
• Strong background in structural reliability, probabilistic modelling, stochastic dynamics, uncertainty quantification, or related areas.
• Experience in developing and implementing computational methods for engineering analysis.
• Proficiency in scientific programming (Python, MATLAB, C/C++).
• Experience with advanced sampling, surrogate modelling, ML or AI-assisted methods is desirable.
• Strong publication record or potential to publish in peer-reviewed journals.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to conduct independent research while collaborating with others.
• Entry-level candidates who recently completed their PhD are welcome.

Responsibilities

• Develop advanced computational methods for reliability and robustness assessment of structural and infrastructure systems under uncertainty.
• Develop and implement efficient probabilistic methods for high-dimensional, time-dependent, and dynamic problems.
• Investigate AI and machine-learning methods to improve efficiency and scalability of analyses.
• Apply methodologies to structural and infrastructure-system case studies, including damage propagation and robustness.
• Develop, maintain, and document research codes and computational workflows.
• Prepare research findings for publication in international journals and conferences.
• Contribute to preparation of research proposals and grant applications.
• Collaborate with Lab members and external partners and participate in related research activities.
• Supervision of students in relevant topics.
