Job description

We are seeking a passionate and highly motivated Research Engineer with a strong background in materials science and chemistry to contribute to the development and characterization of advanced polymeric materials for energy applications. This role involves material synthesis, processing, and in-depth characterization to enhance material performance in extreme environments, including fusion, fission, and hydrogen technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and evaluate advanced polymeric materials for energy-related applications, such as fusion, fission, hydrogen storage, and other extreme environment systems.
  • Conduct research on materials for harsh and extreme environments, optimizing their properties for improved performance, durability, and reliability in energy systems.
  • Perform materials synthesis, processing, and characterization using advanced analytical techniques to investigate mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties.
  • Document research findings, prepare technical reports, and contribute to publications and intellectual property.
Job Requirements
  • BSc in Materials Science, Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience, preferably, with materials characterization techniques such as thermal analysis, spectroscopy, electron microscopy, x-ray diffraction, and mechanical testing.
  • Experience in polymer compounding is preferred.
  • Background in future energy technologies, such as nuclear, is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with a proactive and results-driven mindset.
  • Strong team player with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
  • Fast and independent learner, with the ability to adapt to new research challenges and methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in scientific writing and reporting.
