The A*STAR’s National Metrology Centre (NMC) isthe national measurement institute of Singapore, dedicated to advancing measurement science for an innovative and competitive economy. NMC is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and innovative staff with good interpersonal skills to join our multi-disciplinary team. Successful candidate will be working with a team of research scientists, research engineers, and metrologists to develop new measurement technologies in support a competent and internationally recognized national measurement infrastructure for Singapore in the areas of low carbon fuels and emission measurement.
Responsibilities
- In charge of coding and deployment of a data-driven calibration method developed by the team for sensing quality assurance of gas sensor networks.
- Assist in the design, development, and implementation of an ammonia gas sensor characterisation system. Ensure the systems meet regulatory and safety requirements and conduct thorough testing of the system.
- Conduct gas sensor characterisation experiments and analyze the data to identify areas for optimization and implement improvements.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot experimental issues and propose innovative solutions.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and research findings related to low‑carbon fuel and emission measurements. Assist in literature reviews.
- Create detailed documentation for the developed measurement and calibration systems, including specifications, operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Maintain accurate records of experiments, test results, and system modifications and assist in the preparation of reports and presentations.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to leverage expertise and ensure successful implementation of project deliverables on time.
- Actively look out for ways to improve laboratory operation through automation and digitalisation.
Job Requirements
Qualification & Field of Study
- At least a bachelor’s degree in the field of Science or Engineering
Min. Years of Experience
- 2 years or more of relevant research development work experience preferred. Candidates fresh in the field will still be considered.
Other Requirements (e.g. Skills,Competencies)
- Strong in coding (such as Python, LabView, etc) and knowledge in AI
- Knowledge of instrumentation and statistical analysis
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to details
- Capability to work autonomously yet collaboratively with teams
- A proactive team contributor, who is self-driven, eager to learn, and adopts a positive approach to challenges.
- Experience in setting up IoT measurement systems or sensor calibration systems including user interfaces is an advantage
- Experience in working with chemical processes and safety awareness will be an advantage
