Job description

The candidate will be responsible for conducting research on LLM based solutions for combinatorial optimization problems. Successful candidate will be part of an active research team led by Assistant Prof CAO Zhiguang from School of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS), Singapore Management University (SMU).

Candidate's core responsibilities are:

  • Developing LLM assisted generalizable algorithm for solving combinatorial optimization problems.
  • Implementing traditional optimization algorithms.
  • Collecting real-world dataset and testing the above algorithms for benchmarking.
  • Writing paper for publication.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Minimum Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or closely related disciplines from an institution of higher learning; with particular focus on Artificial Intelligence.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant research experience in prompting or fine-tuning LLM.
  • Proficiency in programming software/languages such as python is required.
  • Proven track record and professional experience in LLM related project.
  • Demonstrated experience and know-how on prompting or fine-tuning LLMs.
  • Excellent working knowledge of combinatorial optimization.
  • Technical skills in PyTorch.
  • Ability to break down complex problems and design effective solutions.
  • Innovating new approaches and thinking outside the box.
  • Applicants with research publications in AI area will be advantageous.
  • Ability to work cooperatively as part of a small, agile academic research team is essential.
  • Self-motivated individual who can work independently and collaboratively with team members.
