Job summary

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Nanyang Technological University is seeking a Research Associate (GIS & Spatial Analytics) to lead geospatial modelling and validation for a national coastal resilience project in Singapore. You will work with the WKWSCI to integrate geospatial analysis and ABM outputs.

The role requires a Master’s degree in a relevant field, strong ArcGIS Pro/QGIS skills, and programming in Python or R.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Geography, Urban Planning, Geospatial Science, Environmental Engineering, or related.
Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro/QGIS and spatial statistics.
Programming in Python (GeoPandas, folium for interactive mapping) or R (sf, tmap); Experience with multi-source spatial data integration and clustering output visualisation.

Responsibilities

Lead geospatial modelling and validation work for the NParks MCCS project on community resilience against sea-level rise.
GIS-based mapping of resident and business archetypes across Singapore; conduct spatial analysis of SLR vulnerability zones; validate ABM outputs.
Contribute to project reports, conference presentations, and top-tier journal publications.
