Job summary

NTU Singapore is seeking an early-career Research Associate (RA) to advance enzyme applications in a bioupcycling project. You will contribute as an individual in a multidisciplinary team with bioengineers and materials scientists.

The successful candidate will set up high-throughput screening protocols, develop automation for process monitoring, and execute experiments to deliver project aims. You will liaise with other scientists, guide final-year students or interns, and help with ordering

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Bioengineering or related field.
• Experience in recombinant protein expression using E. coli and purification with AKTA FPLC.
• Experience in microbial engineering and development of synthetic biology toolkits.
• Familiarity with enzyme kinetics and polymer-degrading enzymes is a plus.
• Ability to design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for multidisciplinary teamwork.
• Proactive, results-oriented with ability to manage research activities and lab operations.

Job description

The SLim Group is looking for a dedicated and highly motivated early-career scientist as a Research Associate (RA) who is interested in advancing the application enzymes in bioupcycling project. The RA will be an individual contributor who is a technical expert and will be working in a multi-disciplinary team involving bioengineer and materials scientist.

Key Responsibilities

• Setting up protocols for high-throughput process parameters screening;
• Develop automation process for process monitoring;
• Executing experiments to achieve the specific aims of the project;
• Presenting results in various meetings/forums;
• Preparing reports for submission to the funding agency;
• Liaising with other scientists in the team as well as in other groups to develop the required expertise;
• Advising final year project and/or interns in the project;
• Ordering chemicals and consumables for the team.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Bioengineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in recombinant protein expression using E. coli, protein purification using AKTA FPLC systems, and basic molecular biology and protein analytical techniques.
• Experience in microbial engineering and the development of synthetic biology genetic toolkits.
• Familiarity with enzyme kinetics and polymer-degrading enzymes will be an advantage.
• Ability to independently design, execute, and troubleshoot experiments with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
• Proactive and results-oriented, with the ability to manage research activities, deliver project outcomes in a timely manner, and support general laboratory operations.
• Familiarity with the ARIBA procurement/ordering platform will be an advantage.
