Job Description

The Yeo Boon Khim Mind Science Centre (MSC) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Research Assistant to support research studies examining mental health and psychosocial functioning across the lifespan.

The Centre's current research portfolio focuses primarily on adolescents and young adults, with ongoing work in mental health epidemiology, resilience, socio-cognitive interventions, psychometric validation, and community-based research. As MSC continues to expand its research programmes, the Research Assistant will play an important role in supporting study implementation, participant engagement, data collection, and research administration across multiple projects.

This position is ideal for candidates interested in gaining research experience and exposure to applied mental health research within academic, school, healthcare, and community settings.

Key Responsibilities
Research Study Implementation and Dissemination
  • Assist with literature reviews and evidence synthesis.
  • Support quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis under supervision.
  • Assist with the day-to-day coordination and implementation of research studies.
  • Support participant recruitment, screening, enrolment, and retention activities.
  • Liaise with schools, healthcare institutions, community organisations, participants, and other stakeholders.
  • Schedule assessments, interviews, intervention sessions, and follow-up appointments.
  • Conduct research assessments, surveys, interviews, and other data collection activities according to study protocols.
  • Maintain accurate study records and databases.
  • Perform data entry, cleaning and verification.
  • Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts, conference presentations, reports, and grant applications.
Research Administration
  • Assist with ethics submissions, study documentation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare meeting minutes, progress reports, and research summaries.
  • Coordinate project logistics, procurement, and administrative processes.
  • Support communication with collaborators, stakeholders, and research participants.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology (Honours) is preferred.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Desirable
  • Prior research experience in academic, healthcare, school, or community settings.
  • Experience working with adolescents, families, older adults, or vulnerable populations.
  • Familiarity with quantitative and/or qualitative research methods.
  • Experience with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, Stata) and/or qualitative analysis.
