Job summary

National University of Singapore's Institute of Policy Studies invites applications for a Research Assistant in the Society & Culture Department. You will join a research team evaluating policies and interventions related to inequality and social mobility, contributing to published reports and policy briefs.

The role offers training for fresh graduates or early career researchers pursuing policy, social science, or public service paths within academia, government, or private sector.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant social science discipline from a reputable university.
• Be intellectually curious and possess strong research skills, preferably with some background and a keen interest in social issues and social policy
• Demonstrate experience and competency in working with and synthesising large bodies of data
• Strong written English skills required for report writing and professional correspondence
• Be resourceful in getting things done and be able to meet deadlines and work well with others

Responsibilities

• Assist with administration and management of research projects, including recruiting and managing participants
• Conduct literature reviews, data analysis for qualitative and quantitative research, and support dissemination of results in reports and policy briefs
• Conduct research fieldwork, including in-depth interviews, focus groups, participant observations, field notes, and surveys
• Conduct data analysis and support publication and dissemination of results in reports, conference presentations and academic journals
• Undertaking other administrative duties relating to research projects, such as corresponding with stakeholders and coordinating with other departments
• Organising and reporting seminars and conferences
