Job summary

The SingHealth Duke-NUS Institute for Brain and Behavioural Health (IBBH) Chronobiology and Sleep Laboratory (CSL) at Duke-NUS Medical School seeks a Research Assistant to conduct field- and lab-based studies in student populations, collecting and processing biological samples, and administering neurobehavioral tests.

You will recruit participants, monitor study protocols, and perform data analyses while collaborating with a team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in psychology, neuroscience, life sciences, or related discipline.
• Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with participants and to work in a team-based setting.
• Strong computer and/or analytical skills.
• Prior experience with R or other programming languages is preferred but not required.
• Able to work flexible hours to cover research study events.

Job Description

The SingHealth Duke-NUS Institute for Brain and Behavioural Health (IBBH) focuses on translational mental health research. The IBBH seeks to understand, prevent, and address mental health challenges over the life course.

The Chronobiology and Sleep Laboratory (CSL) at Duke-NUS Medical School studies biological, behavioural, and societal dimensions of sleep and mental health. Research topics include identifying the drivers and consequences of sleep problems during adolescence, and testing interventions for improving cognitive performance and mental well-being. The research assistant will carry out field- and laboratory studies in student populations. Technical responsibilities include collecting and/or processing biological specimens, operating study equipment, monitoring progress of research protocols, and administering computer-based neurobehavioral tests to research participants. Additional roles include participant recruitment and data analyses.

Job Requirement

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in psychology, neuroscience, life sciences, or related discipline.
• Possess strong interpersonal skills to communicate with participants, and to work in a team-based setting.
• Have strong computer and/or analytical skills.
• Prior experience with R or other programming languages is preferred but not required.
• Able to work flexible hours to cover research study events.
• Have an interest in pursuing an advanced degree (e.g. PhD or degree in medicine).
