Job summary

National Institute of Education invites applications for a Research Assistant on a 6-month contract (renewable) in the Science of Learning in Education Centre (SoLEC). The role involves setting up and maintaining e-learning platforms (Moodle/WordPress LMS), integrating LMS with xAPI/LRS, and supporting online learning experiments under the CHARM study.

You will collaborate with researchers, handle data reporting, and contribute to the development of learning packages for adult learners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in CS/IT/EdTech or related field.
• Experience as a platform administrator (Moodle/WordPress LMS) with user/account management.
• Experience integrating LMS with xAPI and LRS preferred.
• Experience supporting online/digital learning environments and educational projects.

Responsibilities

• Set up, configure, and maintain e-learning platforms (Moodle/WordPress LMS).
• Own LMS platform including installation, plugins, and course structure plus ongoing maintenance.
• Support design and maintenance of online learning environments for the program.
• Troubleshoot issues and provide timely user support.
• Assist in data extraction, usage tracking, and reporting as needed.
• Monitor performance, security, and updates; ensure platform stability.
• Support delivery of online learning activities and program operations.
• Organise and manage digital learning content and resources.
• Track platform usage and generate analytics/reports.
• Support research activities as assigned by Principal Investigators.

The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 6-month contract (renewable) at the Science of Learning in Education Centre (SoLEC).

Project Title:

Cerebrovascular Health, Adult Learning, Resilience and Mechanisms: CHARM Study

Project Introduction:

As part of CHARM study, we will develop learning pedagogy for middle aged adults based on the principles of neuropsychological pedagogy and life-style interventions. Two learning packages will be designed with each package comprising a pre-course, course, and post-course components. The course components will include lectures, group-activities, and homework. The content will be developed by our team, in close collaboration with adult learners, through interviews and focus group sessions comprising learners of various age groups and occupational-types.

Requirements

Academic qualification:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Education Technology, or a related field

Work experience:

• Prior experience serving as a platform administrator (Moodle, WordPress LMS, etc.), including managing user accounts, roles, permissions, and system configuration.
• Prior experience of integrating LMS with xAPI and LRS is preferred.
• Prior experience supportingonline learning or digital learning environments
• Prior experience working in educational, research, or training contexts
• Prior experience with basic data handling, analytics, or reporting
• Prior experience supporting research or educational projects

Responsibilities

• Set up, configure, and maintain e-learning platforms (e.g., Moodle, WordPress LMS, or similar systems)
• Take ownership of LMS platform (e.g., installation, plugin setup, course structure), in addition to ongoing maintenance.
• Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of online learning environments for the program
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide timely support to users and project members
• Support integration of learning tools, plugins, and third‑party applications as needed
• Monitor system performance and ensure platform stability, security, and updates
• Support the delivery of online learning activities and related program operations
• Assist in organising and managing digital learning content and resources
• Contribute to data extraction, usage tracking, and reporting when required
• Track platform usage and generate reports/analytics
• Support research and program-related activities as assigned by the Principal Investigators
• Perform other tasks as required by the project team
